Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman’s future with the national team hangs in the balance after he received a show-cause notice from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The notice was issued following Zaman’s public criticism of the board’s decision to rest Babar Azam during the recent Test series against England.
PCB Chief, Mohsin Naqvi, confirmed that Zaman’s tweet was one of the reasons for his removal from the central contracts list. However, Naqvi also highlighted fitness concerns as a major issue.
“There is a show-cause notice pending against him, and we will see about that. He would need to prove his fitness,” Naqvi said.
Zaman’s outspoken nature has often landed him in hot water with the PCB. His recent comments have further strained his relationship with the board.
Meanwhile, the PCB has announced Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain, replacing Babar Azam. The decision comes after a series of disappointing performances by the team in recent times. Salman Ali Agha has been named as Rizwan’s deputy.
Pakistan will tour Australia for a limited-overs series later this year. The team will be looking to regain momentum and improve their performance under the new captain.
