Young Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav has suffered another injury setback, forcing him out of action for an estimated three months. The recurring back injury has derailed his progress and dashed hopes of a potential India call-up for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The 22-year-old pacer, who made his international debut earlier this year, was initially expected to return to domestic cricket through the Ranji Trophy. However, the persistent back injury has forced him to postpone his comeback.
“There appears to be some problem with his back… Could also be a case of stress fracture. As per the earlier prescription from the NCA (National Cricket Academy), he could play in the Ranji Trophy from its fourth or fifth round, but that’s no longer possible now. He’s again out for quite some time,” a BCCI official told The Telegraph.
This is a significant setback for Mayank, who was considered a promising talent and was tipped to play a crucial role in India’s future. The injury-prone nature of fast bowling has once again taken its toll on a young Indian pacer.
With this latest setback, Mayank will now focus on his rehabilitation and recovery, aiming to return to competitive cricket as soon as possible.
