Babar Azam Equals Virat Kohli’s ‘THIS’ Record In T20Is During Ireland Clash

In a gripping encounter at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin, Pakistan’s cricket maestro, Babar Azam, etched his name in the record books by matching the legendary Virat Kohli’s feat for the most fifty-plus scores in men’s T20 Internationals.

Despite Pakistan facing a narrow defeat to Ireland in the first T20I of the series, Babar’s performance stood out as a beacon of excellence amidst the disappointment.

During Friday’s showdown, the 29-year-old batting sensation orchestrated a magnificent innings, notching up a sublime 57 off just 43 deliveries. His innings, comprising eight boundaries and a maximum, played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s commendable total of 182/6.

This stellar knock marked Babar Azam’s 38th fifty-plus score in T20Is, a milestone achieved in just 108 innings, putting him on par with the Indian cricket icon, Virat Kohli. Babar’s consistency at the crease and his ability to anchor Pakistan’s batting line-up underscore his significance to the team’s fortunes.

While Kohli’s T20I record boasts an impressive tally of one hundred and 37 fifties, alongside three centuries, Babar’s repertoire includes three centuries and 35 fifties. Notably, both players share a highest score of 122 in T20 Internationals, with Kohli’s being an unbeaten innings.

Ireland’s triumphant chase, culminating in a thrilling five-wicket victory in the final over, may have given them a 1-0 lead in the series, but the spotlight remains firmly on Babar’s historic milestone. His achievement is sure to bolster his confidence as he looks ahead to the rest of the series.

With the second match of the series slated for May 12 at the same venue, Babar Azam and his compatriots will be eager to level the series and demonstrate their resilience in bouncing back from setbacks.
