Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Delhi Capitals might not be interested in retaining Rishabh Pant, despite the wicket-keeper batter’s impressive form in the previous IPL season.
Pant, who was surprisingly released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, is expected to be one of the most sought-after players. However, Chopra suggests that the Delhi Capitals might not be keen on re-signing him due to potential ego clashes and budgetary constraints.
“I don’t think they will go towards Rishabh Pant over a particular budget,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel. “They might show interest but will say they are not interested after a particular budget.”
Chopra further added, “They might not lift the paddle at all if it’s an ego issue, that they don’t need him at all. Everything can happen. I don’t see Rishabh Pant returning there.”
The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to take place in late November, most likely in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With Pant available in the auction pool, a bidding war is expected among the franchises.
