Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has heaped praise on Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant for his recent performances in the Test series against New Zealand. Impressed by Pant’s aggressive batting style and ability to score runs in challenging conditions, Ali has predicted that the 27-year-old could fetch a whopping Rs 50 crore at the upcoming IPL 2025 auction.
“Rishabh Pant scored 60 in the first innings and 64 in the second. What can I say about this kid? People say he should go for ₹25 crore in the IPL auction. However, I think he should be sold for ₹50 crore. When he batted on this pitch, it seemed like a flat track. He hit wherever he wanted to but his shot selection was good,” Ali said on his YouTube channel.
Pant’s recent form, coupled with his explosive batting style, has made him one of the most sought-after players in the IPL. With his release from the Delhi Capitals, the bidding war for him is expected to be intense.
The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year.
