Veteran Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes has announced his retirement from Test and first-class cricket. The 37-year-old will play his final first-class match for Khulna Division against Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League.
Imrul, known for his elegant batting style and unwavering determination, has been a key player for Bangladesh for over a decade. He made his Test debut in 2007 and has since represented his country in 39 Test matches.
One of the highlights of his career was his record-breaking 312-run opening partnership with Tamim Iqbal against Pakistan in 2015. This partnership remains the highest opening stand in the fourth innings of a Test match.
While Imrul will no longer play Test cricket, he will continue to represent Bangladesh in limited-overs formats. He remains a valuable asset to the team, especially in T20I cricket.
As Imrul prepares to bid farewell to Test cricket, he will be remembered for his contributions to Bangladesh cricket and his unwavering dedication to the game.
