Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has suggested that India should rest their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the third and final Test against New Zealand, scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Bumrah, who recently recovered from a long injury layoff, has played a crucial role in India’s Test team. However, with a packed cricket schedule, including a crucial five-match Test series against Australia, the Indian team management might need to consider managing his workload.
Karthik believes that a short break could help Bumrah regain his full fitness and be ready for the challenging tour of Australia. He also suggested that Mohammed Siraj could be brought back into the playing XI to replace Bumrah.
“Jasprit Bumrah definitely needs a rest, without a doubt. That is happening, and you will see Mohammed Siraj come in,” Karthik said.
India’s recent defeat against New Zealand has raised concerns about their bowling attack. While Bumrah has been struggling to find his rhythm, the Indian bowlers have been unable to consistently put pressure on the opposition.
The upcoming series against Australia will be a tough test for India, and it is crucial for them to have their best players fit and ready to perform. By resting Bumrah for the final Test against New Zealand, India can ensure that he is fully prepared for the challenging Australian tour.
