The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy without India, given the latter’s persistent refusal to tour Pakistan due to security concerns.
The BCCI has previously expressed its unwillingness to send the Indian team to Pakistan, citing security concerns. Instead, they have proposed a hybrid model, where India’s matches would be hosted in a neutral venue. However, the PCB has maintained its stance on hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan.
Given the impasse between the two cricket boards, the PCB is now exploring the possibility of organizing the Champions Trophy without India’s participation. Sri Lanka could be a potential replacement for India in the eight-team tournament.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February and March. The tournament will be hosted across three cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
The PCB’s decision to proceed with the tournament without India underscores the political tensions between the two countries, which have often impacted cricketing ties.
