The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has passed the baton to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its efforts to bring the Indian team to Pakistan for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy. While the budget for the tournament received approval in Colombo, discussions on the schedule and format are yet to take place.
“We’ve done our part,” a PCB source told PTI. “The budget is approved, and now it’s up to the ICC to convince India to play in Pakistan.”
The PCB has reportedly proposed Lahore as the venue for all of India’s matches, including a potential semi-final and the final. Additionally, they’ve submitted official documents outlining tax regulations, venue details, and government clearance for India’s participation.
There haven’t been any formal discussions between PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCCI secretary Jay Shah. The PCB seeks confirmation from the ICC regarding India’s travel plans to Pakistan.
The ICC has reportedly allocated additional funds in the budget to potentially shift India’s matches outside Pakistan if needed. The BCCI has historically maintained that decisions on playing in Pakistan depend on government approval.
