Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq couldn’t resist a playful jab at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his removal from the national selection committee. Razzaq, who was part of the committee that oversaw Pakistan’s disappointing group stage exit at the 2024 T20 World Cup, took a lighthearted dig at the PCB’s swift action in a recent Pakistani TV show appearance.
“Letter Aaya Hai Termination Ka” (Received Termination Letter)
When asked about his departure from the selection panel, Razzaq responded with a sarcastic Hindi remark, translating to “I received the termination letter.” He further emphasized that team selections were a collective decision made by the seven-member committee, implying that the blame shouldn’t solely fall on him.
Razzaq Questions Single-Handed Influence
Razzaq humorously questioned his ability to single-handedly influence the committee’s decisions. “Letter aaya hai termination ka,” he said, “but how can one person sway the other selectors while selecting the team?”
PCB Announces New Selection Committee
The PCB, in the wake of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup woes, has revamped the selection committee. The new four-member panel comprises the head coach, captain, along with former cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq. This shift towards a more player-centric approach aims to improve team selection strategies.
Pakistan Cricket’s Future
With a revamped selection committee in place, all eyes are on Pakistan cricket. How will this new structure impact team selection and future performance? Only time will tell if the PCB’s decision paves the way for a more successful era for Pakistani cricket.
