Sri Lanka has been dealt a significant blow ahead of the ODI series against India with the loss of two key pacers, Dilshan Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana, to injuries.
Madushanka suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury during a fielding practice session, while Pathirana sustained a shoulder sprain while diving for a catch in the final T20I. These setbacks add to Sri Lanka’s injury woes, as they had already lost Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara prior to the T20I series.
To fill the voids, uncapped fast bowlers Mohamed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga have been called up to the ODI squad. Both players have shown promise in domestic cricket and will be eager to make their mark on the international stage.
The injury crisis highlights the challenges faced by Sri Lanka’s fast bowling department, and their ability to cope with the absence of key players will be crucial to their chances of success in the ODI series against India.
Can Sri Lanka overcome these injury setbacks and put up a strong fight against India?
